What is a Block Patrol

Citizen Block Patrol was developed by the Department of Community Development in collaboration with the Lima Police Department.  This program is also supported by Lima Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership.

A Block Patrol is a crime prevention program, consisting of an active partnership between the Lima Police Department and the residents of the City of Lima.  The program involves residents and police working together for a common goal of crime prevention and reduction.  Citizens will be trained to recognize and report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods, how to properly describe and relay this information, and what information is pertinent when calling the police

How to be a volunteer

To be a volunteer you must meet these requirements

  1. Must be 18 years or older
  2. US citizen or legal resident
  3. Complete volunteer application and questionnaire
  4. Must live in the city of Lima and surrounding township areas
  5. Must pass a background check
  6. Must complete an 12 hour volunteer training course which includes a ride along (8hours)
